Game Time! Meet the Players.

So we ran session three of The Fallen Planes. So far so good as in no deaths..yet=) I continue to see improvement in the players with less need to guide them. We have  a blood thirsty Ranger on our hands now so watch out for that..This session we had people rolling spot checks, listen checks, knowledge checks all on their own. It is exciting to see that individually they are learning what their characters can do. So fun!
Me and Shawna a.k.a  Elven Cleric and  Half Elf Ranger

Clint a.k.a  Dwarven Cleric

Very far off shot of Kensey and John a.k.a Orc Fighter and Half Elf Fighter.

Nat and Sarah a.k.a Halfling Rogue and Half Elf Bard.
We are still exploring a dungeon in search of an imprisoned wizard. Once freed we are hoping she can solve a spreading unnatural winter storm. Our blood thirsty Ranger recovered after a few rough rounds. These creatures are among her chosen foes. The Rogue found himself in hot water after bravely tumbling past the front line and directly into a group of hostel Bugbears. The Orc fighter deal a killing blow for three times a bugbears health. The Half Elf Fighter dropped another amazing skill. The Rogue then was free to maneuver back to the safety of the group and regain health. The Bard sang our group to victory as the clerics kept the group sustained.A fun and zany fight.we did have.

A good time was had by all=) A big thanks to the Dungeon Master! Thank you so much for running Eric=)

D&D 101.

So this week we played our second session of what has now been labeled The Fallen Planes campaign. This could end up being an epic quest to deal with all the planes in all their zany fun or we could end up completely on a different path. That is the best thing about Dungeons and Dragons( and a good Dungeon Master) the story is built around the players.
This is not exact but an idea of what the planes kind of look like in D&D.

Maybe it comes from always ending up training in my jobs but I adore seeing new players learn the game. I am no expert on this game by any means but I think I can give a general outline and help most classes along. Though I am guilty in my preferences fall towards casters so I can usually help them out a little more. Thankfully Eric is combat guy so we are good.
As far as the session goes it went very well. People are figuring out their classes strengths and sadly in some instances their weakness(poor rouge but he picked it up very quickly). It would be hard to understand maybe if you have never gamed or have limited experience but this group made me so happy. None of them are cheesy , over powered, meta gaming fools. That is only fun in Munchkin=) Where you win if you are min-maxed and trying to screw over your party.

The team and working together even if in general you have separate end goals is amazing to me. You can have a character that thinks for themselves but when push comes to shove you have your buddies back. I saw that in this group! Walking through a dark dungeon we talked about walking order, staying close together(never split the party!), and when our rouge go the snot kicked out of him our melee cleric ran in to take some heat off and heal. Our ranger fired until the cleric got flanked and went in to take the heat off of him. Our bard sang and fired when we needed it. Rouge tumbled around battle to flank. Our ranged fighter kept damaging the harder to reach mob. Our "tank"/super damage fighter destroyed those in her way. I of course healed and kept our "tank" cleric up. Pretty fun fight=)

Sometimes you know you are going in to a big bad battle and other times you have to play it by ear. Success usually happens with luck, planning and being able to have fun even if your bottom is handed to you;)

My Lina Day! Dragon Slave attitude=)

Yesterday at work I am ashamed to admit I had the worst attitude=( Not a proud day mind you.I wasn't upset at anyone in particular just to much to do and the entire lack of time to do them. The branch I am at this week is ridiculous and busy and short staffed(which is why I am there). I wanted to explode or Dragon Slave the day...*sigh*. I grumbled, sucked it up and made the best of it=/

On the plus side when I got off work I got to go and hang with Shawna, Clint and Eric for Clint's birthday. Shawna made an amazing dinner for us.

I didn't snag the recipe yet but it was sooo tasty. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes(made with heavy cream), green beans with lemon zest and ground hazelnuts. The gravy was called surprise bacon gravy. We actually started the meal with Eric's chocolate brownies(made with Ghirardelli chocolate). After pigging out on a brownies and to much dinner I felt much better.
My not so fun day at work lead to a great night spent with friends laughing and being silly. My Lina day turned out much better than it started.. I also think Clint liked the presents we got him as well so good news all around=)
Have a great rest of your week folks=)

Meet Arieliama.

Arieliama Ruluasar

This lovely elf would my newest edition to a lengthy list of characters I have played over the years. This isn't exactly how I see her but she is pretty close=) I am planning to actually draw her and her party when all the members join and we get going.
She has long silver hair and blue eyes. Most elves have tan skin but she is very pale for an elf. Arieliama Ruluasar roughly translated from elven is Silver Blue Beauty Dream Seeker. The Races of Wild has a build your own elven name and this one fits her to the letter. Arieliama is 116 years old which for an elf is maybe nineteen to early twenties.in human years. She 5 feet and 2 inches tall and 90 pounds. So she is slightly frail but very quick on her feet.
She is a loyal follower of Sehanine Moonbow (the goddess of the night sky, death and dreams). Arieliama holds all of the elven pantheon in the highest of regard but her patron is Sehanine. Spending her time studying the night sky, practicing her bow skill, analyzing  visions or dreams of her elven community, and lending aid to those whoa re need of healing. Her party members have already refereed to her as Ariel for short(which doesn't hurt my feeling).

I am a long time cleric enthusiast=) The thing I love the most is the versatility of the class. Allowing you to pick different domains(what that god is focused on)and races you can build a decent mix. I have played a nature loving cleric that wanted to be a druid. A few of the holy smite evil kinds. A truly evil devoted cleric(scary stuff to play not a fan). An undead raising and slightly scary until she got turned to the holy roller kind:)  This one is a change I am going to try for a ranged cleric. D&D in general does not allow for distance healing (until later levels at least) but I want to try for it. This might be a terrible error in judgment but as long as I am having fun and can keep the party alive why not!

I have a few of these dice left=/ I need a whole set again I adore them!

We got most of the group together to run the first session on Thursday. Our group is made of mostly new players so we went through a lot of the rules and all that jazz. It was fun though and I think everyone had a good time. Half the fun of gaming is the group and I for one see fun in our future. This Thursday I think is when we are aiming to play again. I hope all the group can meet up and kick some dungeon butt=)
